Gov. McCrory visits Lisa Bisbee's Gallery at the historic Isaac Taylor house. 2015
NEW BERN, CRAVEN COUNTY - Gov. Pat McCrory paid a visit to downtown New Bern Wednesday afternoon as part of the Historic Tax Credit tour.
It's a statewide campaign to raise awareness about the benefits of the Historic Tax Credit program in hopes that it may continue. The program provides tax breaks to qualified historic restoration projects like the more than a dozen projects found throughout downtown New Bern.
"We want to use New Bern as a role model for the rest of the state on how historical tax credits can work not only today but for future generations," says Gov. McCrory.
The Governor also believes the Historic Tax Credit program also helps to encourage private sector investment while preserving the state's history.
