Circular shapes turn into spherical forms. One of my first lessons with a still life in sixth grade with a powerful light casting shadow for me to interpret on paper, I still remember hesitating. Wondering how I could make the illusion of the still life happen on paper. Waiting for my instructor to turn the corner and check out my work. Confidence built over the years, thankfully, and whether I get it right is not so much the purpose as is am I having an curiously-filled experiment with the principals and elements of design. Monotones pull this mission out to the fore-front.
