Brownstones are classic throughout New York City. My great-grandmother emigrated from Scotland and chose to raise her family in a NYC Brownstone. My grandmother was just a tiny Kennedy girl and I remember her telling me stories about growing up with her sister. Space was tight so they shared a bed. She loved her sister, and I love my own sisters. So now when I visit seeing all those brownstones, I think of Gramma and smile.
