The day we visited the area, the frigid wind was blowing off the river and I had to buy a souvenir hoodie to keep myself warm. Snapping photos was sparse because I kept my hand in my pockets keeping away from frostbite, but glad I at least I caught this photo for a reference. Second time painting the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. This version has a different composition. I add thick paint and scratching into it to create all those lines of the bridge. The trees have a watercolor look to them with a thin wash of translucent glaze.
This oil painting by Lisa Bisbee presents a dreamy and atmospheric depiction of the Brooklyn Bridge in Dumbo, Brooklyn, NYC. The bridge’s iconic stone tower is bathed in warm hues of orange, pink, and gold, giving the structure an ethereal glow. The suspension cables are rendered with delicate, expressive strokes, creating a sense of movement and lightness against the sky. The impasto technique adds rich texture, making the painting feel almost sculptural. In the foreground, bare winter trees stand silhouetted against a misty blue and lavender backdrop, their branches adorned with hints of white, suggesting snowfall or the reflection of city lights. The road beneath the bridge is animated with streaks of golden yellow and orange, capturing the reflections of light on a wet or icy surface, adding to the moody, serene atmosphere. The sky, a blend of soft pastel pinks, purples, and creamy whites, evokes the light of dawn or dusk, enhancing the dreamlike quality of the scene. The brushwork is loose yet expressive, allowing colors to blend and create depth, making the cityscape appear both abstract and vividly alive. Lisa Bisbee’s signature vibrant palette and dynamic strokes transform this famous landmark into a poetic and impressionistic vision, encapsulating the essence of Brooklyn’s historic charm and urban energy in a uniquely captivating way.
