This painting is more about the amount of people waiting in queue, than it is about perspective or architectural details. And yes, I was standing in line. For an artist, the Met is like a candy store. All sorts of flavors and colors and time warps back to retro caramel creams and Classic Bazooka gums with cartoons. Walking through the halls is like traveling through time all the way back, and traveling around the world, Egypt, Greece, Rome, oh, my! Spending 3 hours is not long enough to see the whole museum, so I go back, and still don't see it all, so I go back again, and I'm trying to squeeze every last drop of art into my bucket of art history tidbits to save for later inspiration while I try my hand at oil painting with pigment on canvas.
