I was a pre-teen when I first toured the United Nations headquarters in New York City. Seeing all the names of different countries around the world expanded my consciousness of other cultures, especially seeing all the words in different character designs. I've felt like wanting to know more about the evolutions of civilizations, even thinking that I could be an ambassador (I was probably only eight years old at the time). Now decades later, I see that I finally picked the right career as an artist because these images that we artists produce cross any cultural obstacles of translation. Sure enough, we each have our own interpretation, but surely there is common ground in finding an understanding with imagery.
