Captured this view of W. 54th Street from a MOMA window. Conceptual art is a big influence from my studies at SCAD. The idea. The concept. The thought. Here I am painting representational works, showing perspectives, landmarks, peaks and valleys of skyscrapers and brownstones in a surreal abstract manner. Where's the concept there Lisa? It's a dreamlike atmosphere. Is that a concept? Maybe... but explain why. In the movie, "What Dreams May Come," Robin Williams walks into the painting. If I were to be able to do that, which painting would I walk into? A gritty, dismal, murky, dull scene? No. That's not a destination where I'd want to go. I'd rather have a chance to walk into a painting full of joyful brilliant colorful fun. From that preference I see a concept of "Druthers" where we can do want we want. If you had your druthers, what would you want to do? In 1983, Christo wrapped islands in pink fabric. Now I'm wrapping NYC in pink paint, because of my druthers of imagining a more joyful existence.
