Westminster Hall in London is the oldest building in Parliament, 900-years-old. Look at all those windows! When pondering how to paint all those windows, I was hesitating because I wanted to be able to do it justice. It is similar to my painting of “Big Ben” Clock Tower where tiny little detail details are everywhere.
When I look back at my time-lapse videos, it all seems like magic when it goes from a blank canvas of nothingness to colorful somethingness. The first layer is all about getting the white covered. I use a sponge to smudge the paint around into the grooves. The texture is above all one of my favorite "elements of design" where it entices your fingers to want to touch the crevices and bumps. The oil painting is done in layers, once I have the basic perspective in place, I will wait a bit for it to dry before adding the details and deeper glazes, otherwise it might get muddy, and mud is not the intent here.
